Sustainability

Environment Friendly Initiatives

Europlan has been implementing various strategies to address issues relating to the environment.

Europlan's strong commitment to sustainability is evidenced by the launch of  Verde Tambour Cabinets - the first office storage cabinet to secure the Environmental Choice NZ label.

The certificate of the ECNZ label can be downloaded by following the link - http://www.europlan.co.nz/documents/ECNZ certificate 2013.pdf.

This is yet another first for Verde which was launched in 2007 as first tambour cabinet to be PVC free in New Zealand.
Europlan also has ISO 14001 accreditation for it's Environmental Management System.

Product Stewardship Programme

Europlan has established a product stewardship programme for all its products to minimize the impact on landfills. At the end of a cabinet's life time, Europlan organises to either refurbish the cabinet if suitable or recycle the cabinet to be used as raw materials. This applies to Verde tambours, Forte Filing Cabinets, Lockers as well as the other storage products Europlan sells.

Tambour Cabinet Refurbishment

As part of our commitment to sustainability, Europlan's tambours are able to be refurbished. Existing units can be re-powder coated to refresh the unit in the latest colours and for older models the PVC door slat can be replaced with polypropylene. In this manner units not currently complying with the Environmental Choice criteria in place for Verde can be refurbished to comply. This option allows customers a cost effective means to achieve a modern green rated office by reusing existing furniture. As an added benefit the Green Building rating gives extra points for reused furniture.
Contact your Europlan Account Manager or Customer Services for details on how we can refurbish your existing Europlan furniture.

Sustainability in Europlan operations

Europlan`s commitment to environment sustainability extends to the way it operates. A number of initiatives have been taken to enhance sustainability and reduce our carbon footprint in the environment.

  • Energy Management - Through environment audits Europlan has lowered its electricity and gas usage by 30%.
  • Waste minimization - Reusing cardboard boxes where ever possible, recycling of boxes, paper, ink toners, stationary, steel.
  • Using environment friendly materials - Europlan now uses recycled paper and vegetable inks printing all marketing collateral.

Europlan is constantly seeking ways and means to minimize our carbon footprint in the environment.
